What Kind of Work Is it?

Scribie is one of the world's leading transcription services, currently employing over 7300 transcribers from all over the world to provide transcription services to thousands of clients every day.

When you become a Scribie transcriber, you instantly gain access to the site's job board, giving you access to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week. With no obligations or monthly commitments, you choose when, where, and how much you will transcribe, giving you the freedom to set your own hours. All Scribie transcribers need to get started is a computer with internet connection and a dependable headset. When you are ready to work, simply log in, find the audio files that are right for you and get to work transcribing. Each audio file is 6-minutes long, and you will have two hours to submit the file. After you have uploaded the transcription, your work will be sent through a review process and will be given a quality score between 1 and 5, with one being poor and five being excellent.

When you have submitted at least ten transcripts with a score of at least 2.75 or higher, you can then be promoted to Reviewer. If you have a score of at least 3.75 or higher, you will be promoted to Self-Reviewer, which means that you will able to transcribe and review every file you select, essentially doubling your income for every file.

Top Earner Tips

The base rate of $10 per audio hour can be increased, and there a few ways to do it. The best way to increase your earnings is to increase your workload. Because Scribie puts no limit on the number of files you can transcribe per day, you can take as much work as you would like. An increased workload also means you can increase your bonuses.

Increasing your typing speed will also help you make the most of your time. While most transcribers work at an average rate of 18 minutes per 6-minute file, increasing your typing speed can help you speed that time up. It would also be most beneficial for you if you have a reliable internet connection and Adobe Flash Player to keep your work running smoothly and efficiently.
